Yes! Mango For You!

Mangoes are as pretty as they are delicious! Credit By: joyosity

I’d just like to take a minute or two of your time to share with you my love of a fruit. Fruits get a bad rap in some circles. The high amount of sugar…blah, blah, blah. I say we skip the sugar-scare for a moment and consider the awesome, nutritional benefits of a food group that is oh-so-good for our bods.

I’ve always loved mangoes, so when I moved to Cali, I went a little ape shat over the darn fruit. Then, after reading this awesome article, I fell in love with the bulbous fruits even more! I love the darn fruits so much I’m willing to pay $1.69 a piece for ’em. (That’s HUGE, considering I’m a cheapskate and then some.)

And according to one of my favorite apps, Locovore, I can enjoy cheaper mangoes for another month because they’re in season. In celebration of everything mango, here’s a little video where you can watch a little mango love in action…hehe.

Mangoes for Tishy! Mangoes for all! Do you love mangoes as much as I do? Let’s share our mango love in the comments! —Tish

Here in Colorado we have a few options, my favorite mangoes are the champagne mangoes, and Safeway carries them for a buck fifty each. Walmart had them for 63 cents each, or you can go to the Flea Market ( of all places) and buy them at the Mexican produce stand. Theirs are sold by the case, therer are 18 per case and a case is $10. You could also check out some ethnic grocery stores, here they usually have great deals on fruits and veggies. Happy hunting!!

Check out the Indian stores for deals on mango. We buy cases 8 at a time every week when they’re on sale. Peel, blend, freeze, then you have mangoes all year round. I just finished last year’s batch last week. Soooooooo good. It’s my fav dessert.

LOVE mangoes! The Safeway by my mom’s house over-bought them just before mother’s day and were selling perfect, ripe mangoes for 20 CENTS EACH. My sister and I probably bought 60 of them between the two of us.

  4. I also do love mangoes. I am an expat and I came from the Philippines. Truly there are a lot of sweet mangoes there. I miss eating mangoes.!
