FitFlax: Getting Your Chia and Flax All in One

flax chiaYou know when I said last week that we FBGs adore chia seeds? Well, it was for reals because today we’re bringing you yet another chia-related review. Woot! This time it’s FitFlax, a blend of roasted golden flax and chia seeds that come together as a powerful nutrition boost to just about anything you want to add it to—yogurt, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, salads or smoothies (my personal favorite way to eat it).

With a bit of a roasty-toasty nutty flavor, this stuff is super good for you. High in healthy omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, just a spoonful or two also delivers serious fiber. I won’t get into details, but let’s just say that me adding FitFlax in the morning got things moving before I even had my morning cup of coffee. Yeah, that good. Check out the full rundown of nutrition facts at right!

And what’s super convenient is that you can eat this stuff as is straight from the bag—no grinding required. I haven’t tried it yet, but the company that makes FitFlax says that you can even use it as a substitute for eggs, as the fiber is soluble and adds structure to foods. One tablespoon of FitFlax mixed with three tablespoons of water is equivalent to one egg. (Similar to what you do in this amazing gluten-free and vegan pizza recipe!)

You can get this stuff on Amazon for less than $20, and a 12-ounce package will last you forever ’cause you only need a little at a time. So, yeah, just another way that we’re getting our good-for-you chia—and flax—seed on!

Have you ever tried FitFlax or something like it? Have a strong opinion about flax or chia seeds? Do tell! —Jenn
