A Leaner Protein Powder: EAS Lean 15

Ya’ll know how we’re suckers for a good smoothie, right? Well, we’re always looking for the perfect protein powder to accompany our latest fruit-and-veggie concoctions. And while we’ve found some amazing ones, we’re always willing to try new things. Especially when said new things are full of good stuff without a lot of calories. Case in point: the new EAS Lean 15 protein powder.

We were recently sent some EAS Lean 15 protein powder to try and—despite the fact that it does have a rather lengthy ingredient list that’s hard to pronounce (read: not super clean food)—its nutritional stats are pretty darn impressive. We’re talking 100 calories per two-scoop serving with 15 grams of protein (whey and casein, if you’re curious), five grams of fiber, 100 percent of vitamins C and E, and prebiotics and B vitamins. I mean, seriously, 15 grams of protein for 100 calories? And there’s only two grams of sugar? I mean, that’s a smoothie girl’s dream stats!

Also, the stuff tastes good. Like really good. I had the EAS Lean 15 Vanilla flavor and mixed with strawberries, kale and ice it was like a strawberries and cream smoothie from heaven. Then I tried it with oranges, then raspberries, then blueberries. All super delicious—like crave-worthy delicious.

Again, let me say that I’m personally not thrilled with the ingredient list: soy lechithin kind of freaks me out, and EAS Lean 15 is sweetened with sucralose (Splenda) not stevia. But if you’re looking for a protein powder that delivers a lot of protein without a lot of calories and are okay with eating something that’s a little more processed to get there, this could be it. For about $20 for a 1.7-pound cannister, it’s not cheap, but it’s definitely not the most expensive protein powder out there.

Anyone else tried EAS Lean 15? What were your thoughts? Do you ever eat foods that are more processed to get in more protein or less sugar? Do tell! —Jenn

I was wondering if anyone has ever done a review on Shakeology?

  2. Beth says:

Thanks so much for this review. I’m always looking for a lower calorie protein supplement that doesn’t taste awful and doesn’t have a lot of saturated fat. Major bummer that it has sucralose instead of stevia, but I might give it a try anyway.

Terri — There are tons of online reviews of Shakeology, mainly by Beachbody affiliate coaches, but it does have a huge following. I have a hard time with shakes because of the whey, but I don’t have any trouble with Muscle Milk Lite. I also keep the EAS premade shakes in the fridge when I’m on the run, so I’ll probably try this new one as well. I always like buying new ones from GNC because they have such a liberal return policy if it does cause me problems. Of course, I can always just give ’em to my brother… 🙂

Thanks for the review. I just started the EAS Lean 15 Vanilla Cream protein powder, today, and I love it. It tastes great! And its low carb (11g) and has 5g of fiber. Good deal.

I just purchased the Vanilla Lean 15 tonight. I will be start using it tomorrow. Although I’m not sure if I will be replacing 1 or 2 meals yet. I was going to buy IdealShape or Herbalife, but they were too much money. IdealShape is $50/tub, & Herbalife comes out to $98/tub plus ‘enhancements’. So I decided to try this when I saw it at Walgreens since its by far a lot cheaper!! I will write an update in 2 weeks. Can’t wait to see what happens.

Just tried my first on tonight. I got the chocolate flavor which I was nervous about…but it is delish!! I mixed it with almond milk that is vanilla flavored. So the vanilla and chocolate mix made it taste like ice cream! My question to you though, is this best for a weight loss meal replacement? Or just to build lean muscle? After reading more reviews on it tonight, its making me wonder if its more for someone who is trying to gain muscle. Let me know if anyone knows anything.
    Thanks….
FYI I am really full for anyone wondering. I feel like I ate a steak and potatoe dinner and that was about 45 minutes ago that I drank my shake.

  7. Barb says:

Love the shake! Am concerned about one thing. Apparently when I rinse the bottle out after drinking my shake, it appears to have soap bubbles. Is this normal?

  8. jenna says:

love the eas lean 15 vanilla cream protein powder! just started replacing two meals a day with a shake…i have done banana, peanut butter banana and strawberry banana with the powder and love them all. it has a great flavor for a protein powder which most of us think the majority tastes awful. i feel better already and was not hungry whatsoever on these! def worth trying.

  9. Jenae says:

I have been using EAS Lean 15 vanilla and chocoate shakes for 2 months now. I’ve lost weight and I am hardly ever hungry with this shake. I make the shake with water and or Silk light soy. I have tons of Body by Vi shake recipes that I just use this mix with instead of theirs. Saves me tons of money. 2 shakes for breakfast and lunch, 2 small healthy snacks and a light dinner! perfect nutrional and caloric balance without tons of fat and carbs…

I just bought this at Walmart – super cheap. 10 bucks for the 25 servings one. The chocolate is delicious. Those two scoops are enough to tide me over for a very long time. It taste delicious and has a great amount of protein. It so far is really good for my new healthy eating thing. Sure the ingredients are lengthy, but it tastes delicious. This is the first time I’ve heard of it and it’s the cheapest and best tasting protein powder I’ve ever had. Way better than my friend’s Herbalife.

  11. Erica says:

Just had my first shake today – its good except for the chemical aftertaste from the sweetener. I have a high sensitivity to artifical sweeteners so for me it stands out, but not enough to make me stop trying it. It is very filling, and the vanilla flavor mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk is a good treat while helping me feel very full. Much better tasting than Slimfast ugh!

  12. Evie says:

I’ve been using it now for 8 months after trying quite a few this is best one I’ve found and it was approved for me by my nutritionst. I’ve lost 36 pounds to date. Just found out they sell them by the huge pouch at BJs and also some new Lean15 snack bars.

  13. I’ve looked everywhere and cannot find any conclusive information. I want to know if EAS Lean 15 (chocolate) is Gluten Free? The ingredients just flag Soy and Milk products under allergy info. I don’t know if its this shake it several others I e tried or if maybe I need to go Dairy Free as well as Gluten Free but I’m reacting to something. I want to use a shake for weight loss and toning as I workout and lift weights but I don’t want to build muscle and be bulky. I want a meal replacement 2 times a day to begin. I feel as tho the protein has made me bigger and I’m not happy. I want to go back to this EAS Lean 15 and trash all the other protein shakes I’ve been buying.

    1. Jenn says:

      Hi Sarah,

It’s ingredients and allergy statement don’t seem to include gluten: http://eas.com/product/eas-lean-15-protein-powder. Might be worth calling the company though to be sure! 🙂

I know you’re all going to think I’m just posting cuz I’m an Arbonne rep, but I’ve learned that whey and casein are highly allergenic…deriviates of the dairy refining process…lots of nasty steroid, antibiotic and hormone residue in whey protein…both whey and casein cause mucus production which can cause inflammation.
I highly encourage you to look for vegetable protein sources—pea, rice, cranberry—together these create the perfect amino acid profie.

I just tried this today hoping I can use this to loose weight but 8 0z really Im still hungry? Im was hoping I can use this as a meal replacement for lunch and a night time snack as I like to eat. I do exercise 5 days a week walking for 45 minutes and elliptical for 25 minutes is this enough?

This product is excellent, I think the Vanilla is especially tastey and has a great energizing flava. I am so glad I picked it up while in Walgreens on Friday, 12/13/13. I am a 39 year old female fitness buff, who generally works out 3 hours a day/ 6 days a week. If you drink 8-10 glasses of h2o each day while utilizing this product three times a day, your hunger will be satisfied
    :-).

  17. Victoria says:

I’ve been drinking the Gnc lean protein for 2-3 months. Which taste really good and had more options but it didn’t fill me up at all…plus it cost more. Just switched to Eas chocolate fudge and could tell a difference the first day with filling me up. My doctor recommended me to the protein shakes due to me having Grave disease and cancer which caused me to lose muscle tone. So I feel that the Eas makes me feel a little better with all the vitiams and protein, it fills me up, it’s a great price, and the taste it’s that bad! I was a little worried with this protein shake due to taking a ton of meds, but I’ve had no problems with mixing them…but always consult your doctor before taking anything over the counter! Good luck to the rest of you, and if you haven’t try it, I say $20 it’s so worth trying! Good luck:)

  18. Veronica says:

Has anyone experienced any bloating or gassiness with this? Trying to pinpoint if this could be a side effect?

  19. Annie Gutierrez says:

Hi all, Ive been using this product for two weeks now. It taste great and it gives me energy. I ve tried the vanilla and the chocolate daily as 2 meal replacement . It has worked out for me because I feel full. Now I have lost 14 pounds with this and exercises 3 times a week. The only side effect that i ve seen is the gassiness.

  20. Bill Morris says:

I just bought some, how much is in a scoop ? Thanks Bill

  21. Donna says:

To those of you who asked about the gassiness………Yes, I experienced gas and bloat initially but I switched to sugar free almond milk and the gas/bloat stopped.

  22. Melissa says:

I tried EAS Lean 15 for a while and it was actually one of the best tasting protein powders, in my opinion. I recently just got hooked on Jamie Eason’s Signature Series Chocolate Whey Protein Isolate though — it’s delicious and great in smoothies, too!

  23. Skyler says:

I have been using EAS Lean 15 for 2 months and I absolutley LOVE IT! I dont have much of an appetite in between shakes either. I workout 5 days a week and in only 2 months I have noticed a change in my body , seems toned & leaner ! I tell all of my family and friends about it . Its so worth trying!

  24. Michele says:
