What’s Your Shoe-niform?

ahnu jackie slip-on shoeMy husband asked me the other night why I thought women had a greater rate of foot problems than men, and after thinking for a moment, I was stumped. My brain first went to pregnancy…maybe your feet are zapped of calcium and bone strength? When he told me it was because of high heels, the answer seemed obvious. Two other things were obvious: 1) I need more sleep, and 2) I rarely wear heels.

Because I’m not a heel-wearing mama (more power to those of you who can manage to haul kiddos in heels…seriously!), I basically live in tennis shoes and flip-flops, my “shoe-niform” if you will. And because flip-flops aren’t the most supportive shoes known to man, I jumped at the chance when Ahnu offered to send its Jackie slip-on shoe. Plus, I loved my other pair of Ahnu tennis shoes—I’ve actually worn them out—so I was interested to see how a slip-on would stack up.

And truly, I love these things. They’re comfortable and super supportive—in fact, the company even says you can hike in them. Yes, hike in a slip-on! And I believe it. The rubber sole has really good grip, and I didn’t have any discomfort or rubbing whatsoever. They’re perfect to quickly slip on for walking to the park, running around outside with the kiddos, or taking the dog out, and the moisture-wicking mesh and antimicrobial treatment keeps you dry. Way better than flip-flops in the rain, right?

The shoes retail for about $100, so they’re way pricier than your everyday flops. But they’re definitely a shoe that you’ll wear out. And how flipping adorable are these for wearing to yoga class? Love!
