Big Jumps: A Workout Playlist to Make You Feel Like the Shiznit

workoutplaylistshiznit.jpg

I have this one playlist (which I appropriately named “The Shit”) that I listen to when I’m cooking mostly. There’s this great mix of Nina Simone, MGMT and Moby…stuff not necessarily good for my hardcore runs, but definitely perfect for morning walks, hikes, you get my drift. Without tooting my own horn too much (toot! toot!), it’s the perfect feel-good music to start your day with. I’m usually not an a.m. sweater, but I played this song on Saturday morning, and it changed the game. Now I share with you all because I want to spread the smiles around!

Feel Like You’re the Shiznit Workout Playlist

1. (3:01) Big Jumps, Emiliana Torrini: This is the song that inspired the whole playlist! Listen carefully. This lovely tune is full of yummy motivation…

2. (2:58) Put Your Hands on Me, Joss Stone: Oh, the energy! Oh, the fun! Ms. Stone’s vocal umph will have you swinging your hips and bopping your head.

3. (5:48) So Right, Rahsaan Patterson: I’ve been in love with Rahsaan’s sound for years. There’s something sweet and nostalgic there. Listen. You’ll see.

4. (2:54) Feeling Good, Nina Simone: You can’t go wrong with this Nina Simone anthem! Let the endorphins surge as you sing along to one of the best songs one can listen to when outside, walking and enjoying your surroundings.

5. (3:22) Today, Smashing Pumpkins: I’m reaching back with lots of these tracks, but good music should never be forgotten, especially when it concerns the Smashing Pumpkins and lyrics that help pull the gratitudes right on out of you.

6. (3:49) South Side, Moby: Moby’s great, but when he did a collaboration with Gwen Stefani he knocked it out of the park and then some. I catch myself visably grooving when this bad boy comes on.

7. (2:42) Your Touch, The Black Keys: I’ve loved the Black Keys for awhile now thanks to Coachella. This is one of their older tracks that has the perfect amount of rock to get you pumping your arms.

8. (3:49) Electric Feel,  MGMT: MGMT is the bomb dot com. Period.

9.(4:22) Somehow, Citizen Cope: This is a slow goodie. It’s a swoon-rific love song that forces you to slow down a bit while you reminisce.

Play it. Work it. Feel good. It’s as simple as that! What songs make you feel good and ready to move? Share—I’d love to add them to my playlist! —Tish
