Inspired By Olympic Gymnastics? Try This Slimnastics Workout!

Nikki Glor of NikkiFitness has shared her expertise and workout ideas with us before. Now she has a new book and DVD out, The Slimnastics Workout. The 30-minute workout doesn’t require any equipment, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. It combines gymnastics, plyometrics and advanced yoga to get you in shape. Just check out the cardio interval in this Slimnastics sample to get a taste of this workout treat! (And this is stating the obvious, but do what’s comfortable for you. A toe touch is understandably not in many new moms’ repertoire!)

Stand at the front of your mat in mountain pose. Step the right leg back about the length of one of your legs. Heel is down and toes are angled, 45 degrees toward the front right corner of the mat. Bending the front left knee, the quad should ideally be parallel with the floor. Both hips are aiming at pointing straight ahead to the front of the mat, as the arms reach up towards the sky. Engage both legs and push into the outside (pinky toe blade) of foot. Look toward the horizon past the front of your mat.
