2. The Jump Rope.

The jump rope is another one of those “lots of bang for your buck” fitness tools. It’s also compact, which makes it an ideal tool when you’re traveling. Plus, your kids will get a kick out of watching you jump rope and work up a sweat. Make sure your rope is the right length, though. When you step on the middle of the rope, the ends should hit right around your armpits. Avoid using your arms to swing the rope and try to move from the wrist.

My Favorite Workouts

Once again, I’m pretty boring here. I like to alternate jumping rope with kettlebell swings for about 20 minutes max, but I’ll take what I can get. Fortunately, just jumping rope for five minutes straight is a pretty good workout. If you want to mix things up a bit, try out this workout from Fitness magazine, which claims to burn 135 calories in just 10 minutes.
