Gratitude, Goals and Balance: How to Maintain Your Weight Loss for Life

Be thankful for what your body can do, no matter how bendy it is.

10 Ways How to Maintain Your Weight-Loss

7. If the scale makes you tailspin, go by pant size so you don’t have a meltdown. Use jeans as your barometer—yoga pants are a little too forgiving (which is why we love them so much, right, ladies?).

8. Memorize portion sizes. Meat should be the palm of your hand. Fish should be the size of a deck of cards. Rice or pasta: an ice cream scoop. These are what will keep you making proper decisions when nutrition facts aren’t available to you.

9. Practice gratitude. Take time to be thankful for everything you have, including your strength, your new body and the ability to continue to work to keep it healthy—not everyone is so lucky. Reminding yourself how far you’ve come, how hard you worked along the way and why you never want to go back is powerful. It’s sometimes hard to remember the rough path you traveled when it is behind you, but staying connected to it will help you keep focused for the maintenance path that lays ahead.
