Tracey Mallett: The Booty Barre Beginners & Beyond Workout (With Giveaway!)
I’ve been getting into a Pilates class at the gym lately, even though the instructor is a bit of a drill sergeant. I decided to pop in a workout DVD I’ve had on my shelf for awhile now by Tracey Mallet, who from past experience I know isn’t as much of a drill sergeant. That’s not to say she’s not tough; she definitely manages to make you burn without yelling at you.
Tracey’s The Booty Barre: Beginners & Beyond is a quick 35-minute express workout that also includes an ab and thigh bonus workout. The quickness of the workout is key for moms because we all know how precious workout time is. I put my rolling infant on the ground and let my 2-year-old go to town in the toy box while I tried to get in the workout. The workout includes a bit of light dance cardio, and I got some extra in trying to wrangle kiddos between moves.
Overall, if you like Pilates-style workouts, you’ll likely like this one (like, really). Like Pilates, you don’t do a million reps of anything, yet the small moves really target your muscles. The modifications are stellar on this one, so no matter what your fitness level, you can find a way to meet your needs, making it perfect for new moms. Plus, while you hit your buns and thighs with ballet-inspired exercises, you’re working your core a lot, which is important for new moms to regain midsection strength. While we’re not afraid to lift heavy weights, this is a workout that will remind you that light weights can still get your arms burning.
