4. Kitchen Classroom. When you’re a parent, you start to see every opportunity as a teaching moment, even snack time. This isn’t so much as a recipe as an idea that took shape as I prepared my daughter’s snack one day. The crackers, the egg, the carrots? All circles. Experiment with other shapes if you’ve got square crackers and cheese slices on hand. Let kids use plastic utensils to cut shapes of their own. And don’t forget there are endless opportunities in the produce department to teach colors; fashion a rainbow out of fresh fruits and veggies at snack time.
