Embrace Your Inner Kiddo (and Natural Fitness Ability!) With MovNat Workouts

NatFit585

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but “natural” stuff is really big right now. You’ve got movements like the Paleo diet cropping up everywhere, in all areas from nutrition to fitness to health and hygiene products. Fitness enthusiasts are getting back in touch with their primal side with outdoor down-and-dirty events like mud runs and adventure races. At the same time, in the fitness industry there is also an emphasis on functional fitness—that is, fitness that helps us function in everyday life and doesn’t just result in big biceps.

As a personal trainer myself, I am aware of these trends and think they’re great. When I first heard about MovNat through my work at Breaking Muscle, where we were featuring the founder Erwan Le Corre, I thought it would probably fall into one of these two categories. After attending a one-day workshop, however, I learned that it’s truly a one-of-a-kind approach to physical fitness and movement—and also one that is perfect for moms.

Before I talk about the workshop, here’s a bit of background about MovNat. MovNat’s mission is “to revolutionize physical education and fitness on a global scale by teaching a real-world physical competency and conditioning symovnatstem, based on natural human movement skills, to support a lifetime of physical activity.” Founder Erwan Le Corre has outlined the predicament of the “zoo human.” Here is an excerpt from his essay “The Human Zoo” that describes this phenomenon:

The “human zoo” is a modern, global and growing phenomenon generated by the powerful combination of social conventions, technological environment and commercial pressures.  Increasingly disconnected from the natural world and their universal biological needs, zoo humans are suffering physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Are you experiencing chronic pain? Are you overweight?  Do you often feel depressed or suffer from frequent illnesses and general lack of vitality?

These symptoms indicate that you are experiencing zoo human syndrome. Modern society conditions us to think that this is normal and unavoidable.

At MovNat, we strongly disagree with that view. We believe that our true nature is to be strong, healthy, happy and free. We have designed a complete natural movement physical education and fitness system that empowers zoo humans to become strong and healthy again—to experience their true nature.

That sounds like a great theory, right? It makes sense that hours of sitting at computers and desks would have a significant impact on energy levels and overall wellbeing. As a full-time computer worker myself, I can definitely vouch for that.
