A Reminder That You’re More Beautiful Than You Think

Dove

Dove’s True Beauty Sketches video is beautiful.

We’ve always been fans of Dove’s Campaign For Real Beauty. Remember this video showing the making of a print ad? The idea that we’re all beautiful no matter our shape, size or age is aligned bang-on with our FBG mission. So when Tish posted this video recently, I knew I had to share. If you haven’t already seen it, behold:

Now, there are a number of cynics out there who are criticizing the video, but I absolutely love it. I think it speaks to the fact that we’re all our own harshest critics and that we tend to see our own faults rather than all of our kick-ass features. It’s like when we look back at our 20-year-old selves and wonder why on earth we didn’t we appreciate our perfectly unwrinkled skin, our lack of gray hair and our flat(ter) bellies. Well, guess what? In another 10 years we’ll be looking at our 30-something selves and kicking ourselves for not appreciating the barely there crow’s feet, the few grays we have and our flat(ter) bellies.

So just like you edit your self-criticism in front of your kids, why not try to edit your self-criticism for yourself?

Had you seen the Dove True Beauty Sketches video? Love it as much as we do? —Erin
