Do You Play at the Playground?

Thanks to a couple of lovely days recently, the entire family and I have hit the park two days in a row. My kids have had a blast swinging and sliding and just being outdoors. And I’ve had a lot of fun, too—I’m not afraid to climb the rock-climbing wall, slide down the slide or swing right alongside them. I’ll take my son down the slide on my lap, and I generally try to be engaged and having fun with them.

My husband isn’t a stranger to being goofy either, and after a couple of funny trips down a very short slide the other day, he noted that we were the only parents sliding down the slides. (I mean, we weren’t going crazy or pushing kids out of the way or anything—we were just being silly.) It just got me wondering about other parents. Do you sit on the sidelines at the park? Or do you goof around on the equipment sometimes, too?

  • Yes! I’m no stranger to a merry-go-round or a good slide!
  • Nope! It’s my chance to relax.
  • Sometimes. I’ll hit the swings with my kids, but I just as often need a quiet moment to just sit!

Do you walk or play while your kids are playing and try to stay active? Or do you just enjoy a quiet moment to take a break? I’ve got those days, too! —Erin
