Don’t Fear the Fat! Why Your Body Needs Healthy Fats

healthy-fats-585Fat. That single word evokes a sense of panic in many. Don’t eat the fat! Buy the low-fat—always! But times they are a-changin’, kind of. And when it comes to high-quality, nutritious and natural fats (read: the stuff that comes from the earth and not the packaged, processed kinds), they are nothing to be afraid of. In fact, they might just help you to better absorb certain nutrients, keep your belly feeling full and help with weight-loss—all in moderation, of course!

Eating enough healthy fats can also play an important role in women’s reproductive health. From getting pregnant to being pregnant to the postpartum period, healthy fats are pretty much essential.     You are right. I’ve never unnecessarily refrained myself from having fats. Of course excess of everything is bad but we can’t totally omit fat from our diet plan.

  3. This is very interesting, Jen! I thought all kinds of fat are bad to our system especially those who struggle to maintain their diet. Anyway, I agree that everything taken in excess is really harmful. Thanks for sharing!:-D

    Avocados! Almonds! Olive Oil! I end up putting avocados in my daily smoothies and I always have a bowl of tree nuts or legumes around the house.

    My all time favorite healthy and essential fat is coconut oil. Wow what you cant do with this stuff.
    wear it, eat it, take your make up off with it, moisturize, condition your hair,
    This truly is a one stop super food,
    try it im sure you will see the benefits and feel heaps better too.
    As you can tell im a number one fan of coconut oil.lol

    I’m all for good fats in moderation. With some fats in your diet your skin, hair and nails will dry out.
