Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato in a Smoothie? Thank You, Jamba Juice
Ever been to a Jamba Juice? Unfortunately, they don’t have any locations here in Kansas City. Fortunately though, they hold these cool media events, where they fly bloggers like (lucky!) me out to try a bunch of cool workouts and sip and nosh on some of the brand’s recent concoctions. Which is exactly what I did a couple of weeks ago. The full workout recap is up on FBG here and here, but I wanted to bust down a few of the other goodies we tried: namely, the new Tropical Harvest smoothie and the Fruit-i-licious Probiotic Power snacks.
First, let’s set the stage: Santa Monica on a beautifully warm and sunny day. (Again, sooo not Kansas City.)
And we got there with just enough time before workouts to try some freshly squeezed carrot juice. If you’ve never had freshly pressed carrot juice—from anywhere—do yourself a favor and go out and try some. It’s incredibly delicious and refreshing.
To go along with my juice, I also got a snack. The Fruit-i-licious Probiotic Power, which is like a fun trail mix of dried fruits, yogurt-covered raisins and nuts, was a touch too sweet for my taste and had a bit longer ingredient list than I typically prefer, but I nibbled on it before going in for the workouts and got the energy I needed. I do like that they’re incorporating probiotics into their snacks though—always a fan of healthy tummies!
Then, after a few workout classes, it was time to refuel again (hungry!), this time with the new Jamba Juice Tropical Harvest smoothie. With butternut squash, carrot, sweet potato, peaches and mango in it, it is HEAVENLY. Sweet but not too sweet, and you can taste some of the veggies in it (in a good way). Of course, when ordering at a Jamba, I’d have protein powder added to mine to offset some of the sugar, but in this setting it certainly was refreshing and delightful. In fact, you might say it was so good that Tish and I thought it was “bananas…”
I’m dying to try the Apple ‘n Greens Smoothie the next time I’m lucky enough to visit a city with a Jamba. Tell me, what’s your favorite item at Jamba Juice? —Jenn
