Nutrition on the Go: Stack It, Shake It and Go!

When I travel, I carry a water bottle and about a million (or, you know, like, five) little Ziploc bags full of my supplements, my protein powder and my healthy travel snacks. Sometimes the Ziploc bags tear by being tossed around in my bag, something leaks or they generally just begin to get kind of gross after a couple of days on the road. Heck, sometimes even my healthy snacks aren’t even unscathed during a quick trip to the gym—it’s amazing how quickly homemade protein balls can get smooshed. Ya’ll know what I’m talking about? It’s just one of those little annoyances of eating on-the-go. Or, it was. Because the GoStak kind of fixes the whole messy problem. Just look at it—so many healthy possibilities!

BlenderBottle-GoStak

You have four different sizes of compartments to fill up in one little easy “bottle” to carry to and fro. The system of interlocking jars will carry pretty much anything that’ll fit. Stain- and odor-resistant, it’s made of light yet durable BPA-free plastic. The jars are easy to twist on and off (and if one is on too tight, you can actually use another interlocking jar as leverage to get it open—nice, cool feature), and you can even add and remove jars as needed. On the road, I found the smallest size to be perfect for my supplements, while the largest one was perfect for trail mix and protein powder. From taking them to work to the gym to the airport, the GoStak is seriously cool. A simple yet awesome idea—kind of reminds me of a kids’ toy, too, with all of the interlocking pieces. At $12, it’s reasonably priced as well!

And if you’re looking for a good way to enjoy that protein powder you stashed in your GoStak, try the new BlenderBottle SportMixer (made by the same peoples), which is also designed for fit peeps on the go.

Part water bottle and part portable mixer, it’s the closest thing you can get to having a blender on hand without, you know, actually carrying a blender around. It’s leak-proof, so you don’t have to worry about spilling all over yourself (although sometimes the lid thingie is so tight that it’s kind of hard to get off—but I’d rather have that than spillage), and it even has a nice ergonomic grip that makes it easy to hold. The flip cap, when it’s lifted, also stays put—and won’t fall back down on your nose while you drink. It’s the little things.

And while all those features are certainly cool (my nose is so much happier), the real star of the BlenderBottle SportMixer is the BlenderBall, a stainless-steel whisk that really does mix the heck out of just about anything. I tried protein power, coconut milk and almond butter and it was perfectly mixed. I mean, it’s not like it’ll blend up kale or anything, but for what’s basically a fancy water bottle, it’s kind of amazing. And perfect for post-workout nutrition and travel. Like the GoStak, the SportMixer is BPA-free and is also reasonably priced and comes in two sizes and plenty of fun colors.
