Back Talk: Should Couples Crowdsource Adoption Costs and Fertility Treatments?

bigstock-Newborn-Baby-150108jwIt’s a topic I’ve seen more and more lately: Couples heading to fundraising websites to raise money for expensive fertility treatments and adoption proceedings. While I’ve seen a range of reactions, I’m willing to bet people who say that “if you can’t afford afford treatments/adoption you can’t afford a baby” have never been dealt the crappy hand of infertility.

The sad truth is that fertility treatments are costly. As is adoption. And it’s not freaking fair that some couples have a harder time than others getting pregnant. So if they can ease the financial burden of growing their family by taking it to a fundraising site? More power to them. Goodness knows they deal with enough of the emotional burden of the struggle already. But what do you think?
