The Pixie-Stick-esque Vitamin That Has Kids Sticking Out Their Tongues

alternavites

If you’ve got picky eaters in the house, you might worry that they’re not getting all the nutrition they need. But now there’s an easy way to get vitamins and minerals into your kids in a way they’ll actually enjoy.

Remember Pixie Sticks? The straight-up sugar candy that you sprinkled on your tongue as a kid? alternaVites Kids are a much-healthier vitamin-infused version that melt on your tongue. They can be mixed into smoothies or yogurt or sprinkled straight onto the tongue. The product is free of sugar, aspartame and high fructose syrup, artificial flavors and preservatives and don’t contain major food allergens. Individually packed, the little packets are easy to take on the go, if you find it necessary to take vitamins on the go.

I tested them out myself and also used both of my kids as guinea pigs. The taste wasn’t quite as sugary as a Pixie Stick, but it was palatable and unoffensive, with a slightly chalky aftertaste. My kids though? Loved them. It was like giving candy to babies; they opened their mouths like baby birds as I sprinkled the vitamin dust on their tongues. The one problem? As you’re only supposed to sprinkle a little bit at a time (you know, so they don’t go blowing a mouthful of unmelted powder at you), it takes awhile to do the sprinkle-melt-sprinkle-melt-sprinkle-melt routine to get through a full packet. The best bet would be mixing the packets into yogurt if you’re short on time. As a “treat” though, it’s a fun way to give vitamins that kids love.
