4 Hot New Group Exercise Classes to Try
3. The Fhitting Room . I heard about this new “boutique-style” high intensity interval training (HIIT) studio opening up on Lexington Avenue several months ago and thought: “Eh, how great can it be? It’s in the Upper East Side for Pete’s sake!” Well, after reading several fitness editors raving about their experience at The Fhitting Room, I decided to check them out for myself. The verdict was: What a tough workout!
The Fhitting Room is created to be a minimalist environment where you go to use the best equipment on the market and have top-notch instructors guide you through a different program every day. There is a “feel-good” shade of green painted throughout the space and the facility offers small group training, where you work out on your own and in teams.
What to expect: Bring it! I took the “Signature FHIX” class which used kettlebells, resistance bands, medicine balls, a rowing machine, free weights and what seemed like endless intervals to get our heart rate up and burn calories. This is not a place to go and space out during your session — you will be moving constantly!
What you’ll need: Wear your regular workout gear — the studio provides a towel and water. The space does not include a locker room so prepare to show up in your gear or change in the bathroom.
How much? You can either sign up for individual classes ($35,) buy a group of classes or pay a monthly membership ($375)
Where to find it: 1166 Lexington Avenue at 80th Street
