What it is: A gluten-free alternative to wheat, teff is an ancient Ethiopian grain that is becoming much more popular worldwide. (Ever had injera? It’s made of teff flour!)

How it’s healthy: Higher in protein than wheat, teff is high in iron, calcium and amino acids.
How to try it: You can find teff at your local natural health food market either as the full grain (eat it like a porridge) or as the flour. Great in gluten-free cooking!
