Getting meals on the table for young kids is one of the greater challenges of parenthood. It’s hard to keep it fresh in the kitchen and feel like you’re not serving the same thing again and again, yet you may not have the time to search all of your cookbooks for new and innovative dishes. Not to mention that anything new is automatically foreign to most kids and therefore something to be feared and absolutely not eaten, no way. Plus, kids are hungry when they’re hungry, not in 20 or 30 minutes when the oven timer goes off. Or you’re putting the finishing touches on a meal, not paying attention, and you hear a crash in the other room because you were distracted for a minute. Then, my favorite, after them being starving for half an hour, they barely touch the food you slaved to make. Not frustrating at all, right?
Because cooking for kids can be endlessly frustrating, at least it should be as easy as possible. That’s why we put together these eight tips for how to get healthy meals on the table. They’re simple tips, but effective — you don’t have time for complicated tips anyway!
