7 Natural Snacks and Sweet Treats to Look for This Year

Sweet Treats

My sweet tooth is huge. HUGE, I tell you. It’s a constant battle to keep my sugar intake in check. I’m always on the lookout for something that satisfies without being completely awful for me. Fortunately, I was introduced to plenty of options at the food show.
PB-Crave
5. PB Crave. I’ve been a natural peanut butter girl for years, but occasionally I branch out to some flavored varieties. What I liked about PB Crave is that while it is slightly sweetened with honey and sugar, it has all the qualities of a natural peanut butter. It’s not sickeningly sweet and the natural flavors add just a kick of something special. They are gluten-free, made with U.S. peanuts, contain no hydrogenated oils and they don’t have to be refrigerated. My favorite was the Razzle Dazzle with dark chocolate, white cocoa butter drops and natural raspberry flavor. The company also supports Project Peanut Butter, a non-profit organization that treats malnourished children. A minimum of 2 percent of the profits sold from every jar go directly to the project.
Good-Pops
6. Good Pops. These all-natural frozen pops use local, non-GMO, gluten-free ingredients. No HFCS here. They are sweetened with fresh fruits, organic cane sugar or organic agave nectar. There are both dairy and non-dairy, vegan varieties, including Hibiscus Mint and Banana Cinnamon. I tried the Coldbrew Coffee — wow, was it good! Smooth and refreshing with a pleasant coffee flavor.
McConnells-Ice-Cream
7. McConnell’s Fine Ice Cream. You can order this ice cream online, but I think it is better used as the perfect excuse to visit California. McConnell’s ice cream has been around since 1949, but they’ve done something that many long-lasting companies have not — stayed natural. The ice cream is made from raw milk and cream from California grass-fed cows that is pasteurized and homogenized in-house. It’s then combined with cage-free organic eggs, some pure cane sugar and all kinds of natural, local ingredients like organic fruits and nuts. They may be old-school, but they also pump out some super trendy flavors like Olive Oil & Salted Almonds and Eureka Lemon & Marionberries. It is impossible for me to pick a favorite. All are outstanding! This is a splurge you can feel good about.
