5 Healthy Foods We Thought We Hated But Now Love: Part 2
The reaction is always the same. “You don’t like shrimp?!?”
It smells good and qualifies as one of those fun but healthy foods to eat, but for me it’s a texture thing.
Over the holidays, Bill’s sister whipped up a shrimp mousse. It sounded gross and brought visions of the classic Saturday Night Live Bassomatic skit to my head, but I went ahead and ate it anyway.
Served on a cracker it wasn’t half bad, and it saved me from enduring another round of shrimp aversion disbelief.
According to psychologist Elizabeth Capaldi, “every eating experience is a learning experience.” It’s unfair to toss foods one has had little exposure to in the “hate” group, but we all tend to do it. Look at it this way — maybe your first kiss was a slobbery disaster, but they can be quite delightful now.
So once again I’m tossing out the challenge. Try at least one new food this week or give one off your “hate” list another try.
