Reusable Bamboo Towels: We Try ‘Em!

Go ahead and file this in “coolest thing ever.” That’s right, these are reusable bamboo towels. Paper towels that last … and last … and last! Reusable. Washable. Bleachable. Totally earth friendly. Organic.
Almost sounds too good to be true, right? We thought so, too, which is why we decided to review ’em when Bambooee (fun name, eh?) contacted us. (And, yep, these were recently featured on Shark Tank!)

I feel wasteful when I use paper towels most of the time. I mean, all that paper to just be used in a second and then tossed in the trash? I try to use actual dish towels or napkins, but, eh, you know how that can go in a pinch. (And, side rant: I have a number of dish towels that don’t just absorb liquid. What is with that?!) So reusable — and washable — bamboo towels that look and feel like a regular paper towel? Yes, please!
First off, these are made from bamboo, which is incredibly fast-growing and, according to Bambooee, requires no fertilizers, pesticides or insecticides. So that’s great in and of itself. They’re also organic and biodegradable — and can be washed and reused 100-plus times in your washing machine. Boom!
Out of the package, these are much thicker than your usual paper towel and feel almost like felt. Very soft!

And they absorb well, too. I’ve used them for everything from as a basic napkin to picking up spilled coffee to wetting and cleaning the bathroom sink, and they do a great job. No tearing, great absorption, and even with cleaning, they can take some serious scrubbing without breaking down. We store the roll on our regular paper towel holder, and then, once used, throw them in with the laundry, and then, once clean, fold them and store them with our other dish cloths.
They do wash well, too! I can’t vouch for the 100-plus washes yet, but mine have survived a number of washes just fine. I threw these in with my other whites.

Machine wash, line dry.

My washing machine didn’t get the coffee spill out, but I didn’t mind. (And, according to the packaging, you can bleach these if you want.)

One roll of these goes for $12.99 or two rolls for $20.99. Which, um, is a pretty good deal because if you do the math, one 20-bamboo-sheet roll should last you the equivalent of 286 paper towel rolls. Two-hundred and eight-six! Right now, we just have four sheets in rotation that have been reused and they’re going on one month old now and working just fine, so this roll might just last us darn near forever. Bambooee for the Mother Nature win!
