4. Emile Noël Organic Walnut Oil. Ever done an oil tasting? It’s pretty fun if you ever get the chance — and pretty quickly you’ll have a huge appreciation for good oil. The right oil can be SUCH a flavor booster! And things don’t get much more high-quality or flavorful than Emile Noël artisan oils. The company is a fourth-generation French oil mill with Non-GMO Project Verified status. The company offers a variety of virgin-pressed oils including mild olive oil, robust olive oil, sesame oil, roasted sesame oil, sunflower oil, pumpkin seed oil, hazelnut oil, macadamia nut oil and sweet almond oil. We’ve only tried the Organic Walnut Oil thus far, but holy deliciousness. This oil is made from shelled walnuts harvested in southwest France with mainly two varieties — Franquette and Granjean du Périgord Noir — that give the oil a balanced fruity/bitter taste. We taste-tested the Emile Noël Organic Walnut Oil versus our usual walnut oil, and there was NO COMPARISON in taste. It was like drinking walnuts versus oil with an itty-bitty hint of walnut. Almost life-changing (and thus, they are an investment).
How to use it: Do not — we repeat — do NOT cook with this walnut oil. Instead drizzle it on veggies, good cheese, use it on salads, and, okay, feel free to just enjoy a spoonful every now and again as a special treat. This stuff is to be enjoyed and is a serious luxury item that’ll add serious depth to anything you put it on!
