Ibitz Pedometers For the Whole Family

When it comes to activity and my fitness life, I value accountability. Instant feedback is very important to me, and I like being able to see in numbers what my hard work looks like. I’m a big supporter of heart rate monitors and pedometers, so when the team at ibitz by GeoPalz asked us to try their pedometer, I got really excited.

The ibitz is small and sleek and does not fall into the statement-piece jewelry category. Need your results? Just sync it to your phone, anywhere and anytime! Yes, “there is an app for that.” Simply download ibitz unity and use the registration code that comes with your unit, and you’ll be on your way! You’re able to set a goal and change it as your goals change. The app tracks your steps taken, calories burned, distance, total activity and weight. All this is ONE device!

You can mix up where you wear it without your results being affected. From your sports bra or waistband to your shoe, it is able to read your steps just about anywhere. I’ve tested it running and Spinning, and both have been successful. I prefer to sync my ibitz right before and after the gym and before bed. Of course, I like seeing my total steps for the day, but I like to see how much my movement increased from the time I arrived at the gym.

I have to admit I became competitive with myself when wearing this! If towards the end of the day I wanted to get closer to 10,000 steps, I would run the stairs a few times until I made it to where I wanted to be. Think of it as an instant motivator to move! The steps also break down into distance; there is a location in the app that tracks your distance and offers a goal.

The app is completely user-friendly. Everything can be done at your fingertips and if there are any issues, the ibitz has a reset button to give it a boost. When I sat for a long period of time, the app suggested I give it a little shake to wake it up.

This product also has linking capabilities. You can sync multiple ibitz units with yours to keep an eye on your family’s level of activity and use it to motivate your kiddos to move — they’ve even got a kids’ app for the youngsters (and they also come in fun colors!). Although I didn’t have the opportunity to test this out, I love the idea of being able to monitor my mister’s level of activity as he gets older. It will help me determine where he needs more motivation and how I can take some of his favorite activities and use them to help him move more. Activity is so healthy for our children, and I really love seeing it being emphasized more! This battery-operated device is a keeper.

What do you think about monitoring our kids play? I would love to hear your thoughts! —Jennifer
