How to Plan an Active Vacation in 6 Easy Steps

Kauai secret falls

We wanted to hike and see waterfalls in Hawaii, so we made sure to plan several opportunities on several islands to do just that.

Step 1: Figure out where — and when — you want to go

Many areas offer a variety of outdoor activities all year round. They might be pretty much the same in the summer and the winter, like in Hawaii, or they could be vastly different yet equally awesome, like in Vail. Make sure you’re aware of things like rainy season and, if you’re budget-conscious, off-season — if you can do the things you want to do at a lower price, why not do it?

Great tips, Kristen, thanks for sharing! Do you have a template you could share that you used for your planning? My husband and I are going to Germany this fall, and I would love to use your ideas for our trip!
