Vacation Packing Tips: Lighten the Load and Pack Like A Pro

Vacation Packing Tips: Even If Your Last Name Is Prada

High fashion is not conducive to travel. There is no reason to dress like you are spending the day on the couch, but do consider comfort. Travel is taxing enough without dealing with tight, binding garments. If you are crammed on a plane for 15 hours or dealing with a wacky digestive system (common with travel), you’ll be thankful you chose that stretchy skirt.

Pack the right shoes. If your trip entails a lot of walking, take decent, supportive footwear; nothing can ruin a trip faster than sore feet. Resort areas are accustomed to the out-of-towners lackluster wardrobe and will take your hard-earned cash no matter how hideous your Birks. I take one pair of good walking or hiking shoes (depending on the destination) and a nice pair of flats or sandals to give my feet a rest.

My trusty Keens. Together we’ve meandered through redwood forests, hiked a volcano and traversed many a cobblestone road with not a single blister or broken toe in sight.

Traveling to France for a sight seeing trip. How would you advise dressing for tourist sites in Paris?

As in most of Europe they wear dark jeans, casual pants or skirts with short heeled boots or sturdy comfortable flats. Usually only tourist wear shorts and tennis shoes. Parisians in particular wear a lot of black or neutral. Think more along the tailored lines instead of oversized and super comfy. Accessorize with a scarf and you can’t go wrong.

  3. Thanks for the tips.
