You know, I love my early morning workouts. But I love them even more in the summer. Because, duh, light, but also because it’s so, so, so much cooler at 5:30 a.m. than it is at 5:30 p.m. And believe me, with a workout like this, you want it to be cooler. I did this one at The Fit Pit (of course — that Sheryl comes up with the best workouts!), and it resulted in plenty of booty soreness the next day. Plus, you know how I feel about that second plank/push-up combo! Oh, and for the record, I used 15-pound dumbbells and did 300 meters on the rower … looks like I need to keep practicing that push-up/plank!
Workout I Did: Quad WOD + Mini Push-Up Plank Challenge
WOD 1: Quad Wod
Do four rounds of the following for time:
- Weighted split squat x 5R/5L
- Weighted (same weight) plyo squat jump x 10
- Weighted walking lunge x 10 (singles)
- Run 400
WOD 2: Mini Push-Up Plank Challenge
Plank for 3 minutes, with a push-up every 10 seconds. For each time you break — you do 100 meters on the rower.
You guys know what you need to help you get through a workout like that one? Proper hydration! Later this month I’ll be sharing how the latest #PropelFit Challenge, which is to “challenge yourself to hydrate properly for one full week,” is going for me. And to help get you in on the action and excitement (I can’t be the only one who gets really geeked about making sure I’m optimally hydrated, right? Right?!), we’re giving away* a Propel prize pack to one lucky reader! With lots of Propel products, a towel and a water bottle, all you have to do is submit a comment below (U.S. only, please!) with deets on how you stay hydrated. We’ll pick the lucky winner later this month and notify her in the comments and via email.
So, what are you waiting for? Tell us: how do you stay properly hydrated, especially when it’s so darn hot and you’re working out? —Jenn
