Every time you go to bake, your brown sugar is hard as a rock.
The Kitchen Hack: Brown Sugar Disks
My mother-in-law got me one of these brown sugar disks ($12.99) a few months back, and it’s been such a brilliant addition to my kitchen. A little terracotta disk that you soak in water, you simply put it in your brown sugar container and boom! The brown sugar stays moist enough to work with — no annoying clumps. Every few weeks you need to check it to make sure it’s still moist (and re-soak if not, of course), but I’ve found it lasts just long enough to get me through one sporadic baking adventure to the next. You can also use these reusable disks to keep raisins, homemade cookies, bread crumbs and other dried fruits moist and fresh.
