Black Bean Quinoa Burgers

Black Bean Quinoa Burgers

This recipe for Quinoa Black Bean Burgers has been a hit with friends and family.
Ingredients
  • ½ cup dry organic quinoa
  • 1 can (15 oz) organic black beans
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion chopped fine
  • 1 carrot chopped fine
  • 2 tablespoons of organic tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons salt-free steak seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon vegan wishishere sauce
  • Six burger buns
  • Your favorite burger toppings
Instructions
  1. Cook quinoa according to the package directions or, if you buy in bulk, rinse quinoa and add to a pot cover with 1.5 cups of water cover and bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook until all the water is absorbed.
  2. Chop the onions, carrot and garlic all together in a mini food processor. Add the spices and saute them in a small skillet just until tender ,about 4 minutes.
  3. Put the beans into a food processor and pulse. Add the vegetables and hit the pulse button again. And then add the quinoa and process them until well combined.
  4. Spray a cookie sheet with coconut oil spray and form the mixture into six patties. Bake them at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes, then flip them over and bake them for an additional 15 minutes or until the outsides are crispy.
  5. Put your black bean quinoa burgers in a bun and top with your fave burger toppings!
Notes
I toasted a whole-wheat bun and added my favorite garlic mustard along with organic romaine, sprouts, avocado and onion. (I was so bummed that I did not have tomato or cucumber to add. You know that would take it to the next level!)
