High Fives: A Fun Partner Workout Move

It’s been weeks since the IDEA Conference, and I’m still on a happy high from all the wonderful people I met and all the information I learned. It was all kinds of good. One of my favorite moments from the weekend would have to be the workout Douglas Brooks put me through. I learned so many great new moves, including one that I happily named The High Five.


It’s all slap-happy fun until you get into your third round of these bad boys and then you start to feel an awesome but shocking burn. It’s great cardio and great for working on your shoulder strength; oh, how I love the perks of a good high five.

Mark and I totally kept these bad boys up, even sharing them with our bootcamp group. I love watching as the shoulder burn surprise sets in on people. They’re fun, but they’re definitely a great challenging workout. You’ll need a partner. When starting out with these try doing 8, 16, 20, meaning hit your partner’s hands each four times the first round, eight times the next and then 10 for the last. Try not to drop your arms when you’re the person holding up arms. That’s part of the workout, too!
