11 Top Fitness Apps

YoBelly

10. YoBelly. I love to cook, but due to our work schedules my husband and I end up eating out or ordering in a decent amount. And like many couples, we do the “‘What do you want for dinner?’ ‘I don’t know, what do YOU want?’” routine a lot. So I was excited to try YoBelly, which uses your dietary preferences and location to supply recommendations as well as prices and reviews. I answered a few questions about my eating habits (adventurous, like hot and spicy dishes, eat mostly vegetables and some seafood) and was informed that my taste profile makes me an Octopus. Then I rated cuisine types, checked off a few dietary restrictions, and indicated my preferences. Make sure you click and scroll around in the menus — I missed a couple of options the first time around. You can rate flavor, textures and sensations from buttery or tangy to airy, creamy or sticky and even refreshing and heat. There’s even a preference menu for environmental concerns like local, grass-fed and low sodium.

When you’ve completed your profile, the fun begins: finding your food! Based on my avatar and location, I found a number of restaurants (including many I haven’t tried yet). YoBelly provided their addresses and distance, and even suggested menu items with specific prices and reviews written by other Octopuses using the app.

Speaking of YoBelly’s “food zodiac,” this is where the app really shines. My husband and I have very different food preferences, so I created an Eatvite for the two of us. Based on our profiles and location, YoBelly suggested a restaurant where we’d both be able to find dishes — and it was one of our favorite neighborhood places.

Once you’ve got your food, you can take a picture of your dish and add your review to the database. I like how detailed the process is, and I’ll be using it to find lunch near my office so I don’t get into a salad rut. With a nearly endless amount of options in its database, YoBelly would be a great decision-maker the next time you need to satisfy a group of Pandas, Tigers, Gazelles, Eagles and Dolphins.

My must-have apps are MapMyFitness, MyFitnessPal and Fitbit. I have them all connected and it’s nice that I can keep track of my exercise through MapMyFitness and my meals through MyFitnessPal and watch them all connect. I also live by my Fitbit app, my goal is to hit 10,000 steps a day and I will constantly look at it throughout the day to see where I’m at.

Love all these options — now need to figure out which one’s I can access. Thanks

I really like Lark, it’s a cool and at the same time useful app.
I also use ActivityTracker to monitor my physical metrics on a daily basis.

It’s lesser known, but definitely worth checking out.
