Making My Next Move

I’ve been inspired by both Kristen’s and Erin’s goals for Kohl’s #MakeYourMove campaign, and you know what? Now that I’m three months postpartum, I’m ready to throw my hat in the ring, too.

It’s time for me to #MakeYourMove — and that’s finding my fitness groove. My fitness jam. My fitness mojo, if you will.

I’m not hung up on getting my pre-baby body back (after all, that would kind of negate all of the amazing stuff it’s done and changes it’s been through!), but I am PSYCHED to set some new goals. There’s nothing like being pregnant for 42 weeks (yes, that’s two weeks longer than normal) and then recovering after childbirth to make you realize just how wonderful it is to have a body that you can move in with no restrictions. No bump to maneuver around, no extra water weight, no nether regions that are healing. No restrictions!

I felt giddy during my first real workout back at the gym. Sure, I wasn’t in as good of shape as I once was, but it felt good to move, get out of breath and push myself. My body shape had changed, but it was still there — and it was mine again. It was fantastic.

The only thing that wasn’t really fantastic and that I wasn’t really thinking about? Support. And the ability to be able to nurse when I needed to (my gym is awesome in that I get to bring my baby!).

It was time for a Kohl’s shopping trip!

And because Kohl’s has pretty much everything a fit girl could want, they had quite a few nursing sports bras. Here are the two I settled on: one with fun black and white strips and a gray one, both by Oh Baby by Motherhood. And it was just the investment this mama needed in her fit wardrobe.

With straps that easily unhook for ease of breastfeeding and lots of padded support, let’s just say that these nursing bras are working. I’m more comfortable during workouts and if I need to pop into my gym’s changing room to nurse, I can do so easily. Which all means that I’m more likely to work out.

Which is totally the point of my #MakeYourMove goal! I want to get back into working out regularly (at least three times a week) and really get back into my fitness groove. That means working on my burpees, building my lower-body strength and getting back to doing pull-ups!

Basically, Kohl’s has inspired me to go after my best life — the one where I’m a mom and a person going after her personal best.
