5 Healthy Travel Snacks That You Need in Your Life

A little birdie told us that Fit Bottomed Girls was celebrating Fit Bottomed Vacay Week, and we wanted to get in on the action with our own foodie twist: healthy travel snacks!

The following travel snacks are new, delicious, healthy (or at least better for you than a whole bunch of other snacks out there!) and great on the go. Whether you’re heading to the beach, packing up for the trail or just hitting the gym, pack them and fuel up for your fit adventures no matter where they take you!
1. Wholesome Goodness Trail Mixes. Sick of those nut mixes that give you mostly peanuts or itty bitty pieces of walnuts and almonds? This is not that. These trail mixes are delicious and have huge full nuts (please, someone make a joke) in them — plus, other tasty additions, like dried cranberries, dark-chocolate covered soy nuts and yogurt-covered raisins. These mixes aren’t anything really new or unique in the flavor department, but when it comes to trail mix, it’s SUPER high-quality — and clean without too much sodium and no preservatives.
2. Huga Bar. Huga Bar got our attention with its Hazelnut & Chocolate Bar (ahem, hello, Nutella flavor) that’s gluten-free, GMO-free, and has 9 grams of protein (from whey), 6 grams of fiber and 150 calories. Want a travel snack that’s a little less sweet? Go for its Almond & Honey Bar that’s inspired by Spanish turron and made with almond, quinoa and flaxseed. Perfect eats for your exotic travels!
3. EXO Bars. Feeling extra adventurous and earth-friendly? Go with an EXO Bar that’s made with cricket flour. Yes, cricket flour. We tasted them, and we promise they do not taste like crickets. Or chicken. Which is what I imagined crickets would taste like. These bars taste a lot like a Larabar and come in really tasty flavors like Apple Cinnamon, Cocoa Nut, Blueberry Vanilla, and Peanut Butter and Jelly. All-natural, gluten-free, soy-free, grain-free and dairy-free with 10 grams of protein and 300-ish calories each, these actually taste more fruity than anything. We wish they a little less sugar (around 15 grams per bar), but they’re filling and perhaps saving the world. (Just not the cricket world.)
4. Go Raw Rowdy Ranch Salad Snax. How about a salad you can take with you anywhere? We are pretty much in love with this on-the-go salad mix of kale, cabbage, carrots, spinach and more that’s been dried (not cooked, hence the raw part) and seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder and sea salt. Crunchy and chewy at the same time (it’s kind of mind-blowing), the package says to enjoy these on top of fresh greens or in a dip, but we love just packing a bowl with us and eating it with a fork. Finally, a salad that you can have anytime or anywhere your travels take you, no fridge or cooler necessary!
5. Luna Protein Chocolate Salted Caramel. Luna sent us a couple boxes of its new Chocolate Salted Caramel protein bars, and we have been noshing on them just about daily. Gluten-free and tasting more like a candy bar than a protein bar (12 grams of protein from soy), they’re one of our go-to travel-snack faves.
Which travel snacks sound best to you? And would you try cricket bars? They really were surprisingly good!Jenn
