Beachbody 21 Day Fix: Getting Started

beachbody-585

I have been asked many times — and then some — to give Beachbody a try. I’ve been very resistant to the idea and often tend to ignore the offers. I’m often skeptical of “buying into” weight-loss gimmicks and advertisements (Hello! We’re all about the anti-diet around here!). There is no denying that the marketplace is flooded with Beachbody coaches; I have many friends who are affiliated with Beachbody; some sell, some participate in group challenges. But I was skimming Instagram recently when I came across a page that really drew my attention.

A busy mom, much like myself, who struggled to be healthy and provide a healthy lifestyle and foundation for her children. I was immediately drawn to her page. There was no sales pitch, no ads of any kind, just a beautiful woman smiling among her happily playing family. Her page was filled with meal-prepping ideas, kids smiling and fitness experiences. I liked it. Upon snooping stalking looking, I found that once again, my interests had led me to Beachbody.

Jessy and I talked several times and confided in one another about the true struggles we face as busy moms to focus on ourselves and our health post-baby and beyond. She introduced me more to Beachbody, specifically Autumn Calabrese’s 21 Day Fix program, and offered me the opportunity to participate alongside her team. (If you’re not familiar with the 21 Day Fix, it consists of workouts and pretty little color-coded containers that help you control your portions and make eating healthy a snap.) Still feeling a little skeptical, I agreed, and so began the journey of Fit Bottomed Mamas taking on Beachbody.

Several days before the challenge was to start, Jessy sent a Facebook invite to a private group. In this group she used an icebreaker to help us get acquainted with one another and posted many helpful tips that she’s acquired throughout her experiences. These tips included recipes, snack ideas, how to understand the containers and more. If it weren’t for her being so active on this group page, I never would have known about the Beachbody app! The app helps you keep track of your container intake, as well as teaspoons, water, activity, measurements and more! It was a nice introduction to the program while a few of us waited on our shipments. I don’t have to tell you mamas how nice it is to have some help with our meals!

I am eager and excited to get this challenge started, and I’ll be updating you for the next few weeks on how I like it! Just three weeks — 21 days — seems so short, yet so long at the same time. Let’s see how prepping goes with a busy house of a typical toddler and a 3-month-old who is exclusively nursing and not into the bottle thing.
