global meditation

Set your alarms and get those workouts in early tomorrow morning (Saturday, July 11), because at 9 a.m. PDT, something amazing is going to be taking place, and you can be a part of it!

The Chopra Center is holding the 2015 Global Meditation for Compassion in Carlsbad, Calif., and hundreds of thousands people all over the world will be joining Deepak Chopra and Ismael Cala, acclaimed CNN en Español anchor, best-selling author and speaker, as Gabrielle Bernstein (love her) leads a conversation around meditation and compassion, followed by a 15-minute guided meditation from Deepak. And it’ll all be livestreamed, so you can be a part of it wherever you might be!

If you’re wondering why compassion is the theme this year — last year, the theme was Peace, and it currently holds the Guinness Book of World Record title for largest global meditation — take a moment to watch the powerful video below (or click through to watch). And if you’re ready to join us (because you know we’ll be participating), you can learn a bit more and sign up here, then share your plans on social using the hashtag #IAMCOMPASSION. (Or, if you’re in the Carlsbad area and want to attend, here’s where you can find tickets!)

In the meantime, we’ve got a total treat for you — an exclusive Q&A with Gabrielle Bernstein!

Q&A with Gabrielle Bernstein

Do you have a favorite, go-to meditation? Or do you prefer to mix things up all the time? My favorite go-to meditation is the Kundalini meditation called ego eradicator. It’s an awesome way to bust through the blocks.

What’s your best healthy living secret? My best healthy secret is to stay off sugar! I’ve been off sugar for two years and I’ve never felt better.

What are your favorite ways to deal with a stressful day, both during the stressful situation and afterward? Transcendental meditation.

What are some of the healthy eats you can’t get enough of? Hummus, Mary’s Gone Crackers, kale, lemon.

What workouts are you loving right now, and what do you find so amazing about them? Pilates because it makes me feel incredibly flexible and strong. SoulCycle because it’s a direct line to God …

What are you most looking forward to with this incredible global meditation event? Gathering hundreds of thousands of people in a conversation around compassion and kindness. My hope is that this event will inspire everyone to begin a daily meditation practice.

Huge thank you to Gabby for taking the time to chat with us! And boy, are we excited for tomorrow’s meditation. Who else will be there? —Kristen
