Last year, meal delivery saved my sanity. If you recall, I wrote about receiving a few weeks of meal delivery from The Purple Carrot as a get-well-soon gift after ankle surgery. After weeks of pizza delivery and Thai takeout (the only “cooking” my husband ever does when I’m laid up), it was nice to have fresh ingredients in my house for some good, clean eatin’.
The convenience of meal delivery is appealing. On those days when time and energy is scarce, the last thing most of us want to do is shop, chop, and cook. With meal delivery services, that burden is eased tremendously without having to make a trip to the drive-through window.
The selection meal delivery, however, is overwhelming. With so many options, it can get confusing — some meal delivery services send frozen trays, others send refrigerated packs, and still others simply send pre-measured, pre-chopped ingredients to be assembled into an entree. A simple search for meal delivery will reveal SO many options: vegan, paleo, gluten-free, egg-free, meals for mommies, weight-loss, weight gain, whole-food, macrobiotic, Mediterranean, high-protein, high-carb … the list goes on. Some services deliver nationwide, while others stay local. For something that’s supposed to simplify our lives, choosing the right meal delivery service can be complicated!
Fear not — we’ve got you covered. We’ve got the nuts and bolts of six nationwide meal delivery delivery services to appease every palate, plus a few local stars, all in this nifty infographic.

  1. Great break down!! I have never looked into a food delivery service before since we do a lot of meal planning in our family. However, that still doesn’t keep us from randomly running late errands and deciding to just swing through the drive thru or grab a pizza on the way home. I’ll definitely have to look into these options with my husband later. 🙂
