Lole White Yoga Tour Brings 10,000 Yogis to NYC, Plus an Interview With Elena Brower

Anyone who knows me will tell you that  I like two things — cardio and wearing black. So when given the opportunity to do the exact opposite with thousands of my fellow New Yorkers on a beautiful summer day, I jumped at the opportunity because switching things up once in a while is the healthiest thing you can do!

I headed out to the beautiful lawns of Central Park clad in all-white gear from Lole Activewear and headed to the press tent (being an FBG writer has its advantages!). All around me — while I enjoyed FIJI water and Gardein meatless treats — I noticed throngs of people setting up their spots on the great lawn. This was quite a sight to behold!

The Lolë White tour (created by the Canadian-based yoga brand) is a five-city, peace-driven music and yoga extravaganza taking place across the U.S. and Canada with the final stop of the tour taking place on Saturday, November 7 at the Santa Monica Pier. Participants enjoy a yoga session accompanied by live music all while dressed head-to-toe in white gear to symbolize peace.

For the New York City event (which had more than 10,000 attendees!) we had none other than Rodney Yee, Colleen Saldman-Lee and the incomparable Elena Brower whom I was lucky enough to interview at last year’s Brooklyn Wanderlust festival (swoon!).

Ingrid Michaelson and Donna De Lory provided the music as a magical backdrop to the truly wonderful and zen evening, which was one of the most magical times I have ever experienced as a New Yorker.

To bring some of that into your life, I was able to chat with Elena where she clued me in on some of her yoga/meditation faves that keep her calm and centered. Read on and get your om on, too!

Q&A With Elena Brower

What are your favorite yoga DVDs? I actually don’t have a TV, so I always use YogaGlo to practice! So many great teachers there and many are dear longtime friends, as well as teachers to me.

Can you describe your meditation practice? Twenty minutes in the morning, I have a mantra from Thom Knoles, my Vedic meditation teacher. I also do a short Kundakini kriya as well.

What is your favorite yoga pose? Padmasana/the Lotus Pose, which for me, is the most potent experience.

What are your favorite pre/post workout meals? Pre-workout you can find me loving Vitaminerals Earth in some hot water with a bit of honey. Post workout I reach out for my Evolving Buddha Bowl.

Have you been to any of the Lolë White events? What is your favorite part about going to yoga festivals? —Margo
