Why YOU Are One of the 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness

So this list of the 100 most influential people in health and fitness just came out from Greatist (love them). And, guys, to say we were shocked and humbled to be ranked so high (No. 28!) on the list is the understatement of the year. I mean, somehow Jillian (yes, THE Jillian) is below us — as is Tony Horton and Shaun T.!) Which has us all like, this:

But here’s the really cool thing: Here on FBG we walk an interesting line between being bloggers and an online magazine. So we have writers and do articles with tips and workouts and stuff, but we also share a lot of our souls. Sure, we’re “fitness experts” but we’re also real people. Erin talks candidly about how hard it really is to fit in workouts with three kids, Kristen takes us along on all of her self-improvement journeys, and I do my best to always keep it real.

And being listed as “influential” is pretty much the best compliment ever. In the almost eight years since FBG was created, a lot has changed on the internet world — and in the world of fitness and health advice. Diets aren’t as cool. Positive body image is a legit thing. And like we’ve been saying since 2008: women know they are more than the number on the scale. Being healthy isn’t about looks; it’s about knowing you’re worth taking care of. It’s awesome to have been a voice in the sea of all that change.

So here’s the thing about being named one of the “100 most influential people in health and fitness,” at least in our case. Sure, we have personalities and showcase those from time to time, but what makes this site and our Fit Bottomed brand truly influential isn’t just what we say or do or even recommend, it’s how you have taken those kernels of information and put them into practice. It’s the Real FBGs out there making the healthier decision and squeezing in 10 minutes of exercise here and there. It’s you sharing a workout you did or an inspiring quote on your social media account. It’s you telling a friend or co-worker about a cool giveaway we’re doing or passing along some tips.

We may be listed as the most influential people in health and fitness, but truly, it’s YOU who are the most influential. So keep doing your thing, sharing your truth and being you, FBG readers. We’ll just sit back, applaud your efforts and do what we can to keep ’em going.

You influence us — and we are so grateful for all that you do! —Jenn
