Good Life Advice for All of Us

mind-your-fitness

Run your own race. Don’t fall into the comparison trap. Mind your own business — and fitness. No matter how you say it, one of the best pieces of fitness advice, and honestly life advice, is to keep your focus on what you’re doing and let other people do their thing. Especially people you don’t know well. Especially in situations like this one that Erin blogged about over on Fit Bottomed Mamas.

It reminds me of this video that showcases exactly how you never know what people may actually be going through.

For example, I went through years of fertility issues before I had my daughter. Emotionally it was taxing and exhausting — and I’m sure a lot of people had no idea, but there were many days where it was a lot to put on a happy face or get motivated to even get to the gym (let alone run at 3 mph).

So, this is just a gentle reminder to have some perspective wherever your day or workout takes you. Be nice. Mind your own workouts. Put yourself in another’s shoes. Smile. Be encouraging and friendly.

Those small gestures of kindness may be exactly what they need. (And I guarantee it’ll make you happier, too.) —Jenn
