Overcoming My Derailers

You know what’s full of surprises? Life. And you know what we call these surprises that attempt to get in the way of our active and fit lives? Derailers. Here’s a (hilarious) video to help illustrate the point.

Funny, huh? And seriously, how many times has something similar happened to you? Derailers are everywhere … everywhere! Which is exactly why it’s important to be prepared for them. Take for example my seemingly normal drive to take my daughter to daycare.

My Derailer Experience

When we left the house it was sunny. Gwen was happy. I wasn’t hungry. And I had plans to hurry home after kiddo drop-off and write all the posts and do all the things, including some much needed yoga. And then we got in the car and 15 minutes later this happened.

Don’t worry, I wasn’t driving when I took this photo. And I promptly gave Gwen a paci.

Gwen (clearly) wasn’t happy. A thunderstorm was a brewin’ outside. I went from not hungry to HANGRY. And we were stuck in traffic, making our usual trip to daycare take twice as long as normal. Basically, no one had patience: not Gwen, not me, not the weather and certainly not the other drivers on the road. And while my situation wasn’t quite as bad as the video above, it’s clear: this wasn’t just an annoyance. This was a derailer.

After finally getting Gwen to daycare, all I really wanted to do was to roll up to a coffee shop, order a whole lot of sugary caffeinated goodness and go home and take a nap. But thankfully, Pure Protein came to my rescue. I had oh-so smartly thrown a package of these babies in my bag for just these kinds of situations. Low in sugar and high in protein, they got me well past the coffee drive-thru and back on track with the fuel to power me through my day.

And, guys, Pure Protein Crunch is not only gluten-free, non-GMO and super convenient to throw in any gym bag, purse or briefcase, they are DELICIOUS. And super poppable. They’re light and airy, but also satisfyingly crunchy and way tasty.

They come in a single-serving and you get so many of these little protein-filled nuggets of deliciousness! All with 10 grams of protein, 5 grams of sugar and 160 calories. I mean, the package just keeps going, and going and you just get to keep popping and popping. There’s almost enough that you want to share.

Just kidding. They’re too tasty to share. THEY’RE ALL MINE!

Prefer a protein bar or drink to ninja-kick your derailers? Hey, Pure Protein has that, too. All of the Pure Protein products are delicious, versatile and packed with protein — something we all need for optimal body function, strength and lean mass. I’m another big fan of the Pure Protein Bars that each deliver between 19 to 32 grams of pure whey protein, with only 3 grams or less of sugar. They come in yummy flavors, like Salted Chocolate Caramel, Chocolate Coconut and Chocolate Peanut Butter.

So, yeah, I’d like to give Pure Protein a big high-five for saving my day. That derailer could have totally thrown off my whole healthy mojo. But did I let it? Nope! I stayed on track because I had the goods to make a good decision right then and there. Woot!

Have you tried Pure Protein Crunch yet? My husband had the best idea to mix the peanut butter ones with the double chocolates ones and then split them between the two of us for a single serving each. OMG. Tastiest. Idea. Ever. —Jenn
