An Oat-So-Good Breakfast Idea

overnight oatsWant a hot, filling breakfast but don’t have time to stand over a pot, stirring oats for half an hour (or even a few watchful minutes) in the morning? I hear you on that. I don’t even have a commute and I still find myself rushing to get into the office (just down the hall from the kitchen) on time a couple of times a week!
And that’s why this awesome soaked oats and chia idea from Fit Bottomed Zen (you’ve checked out our newest site, right?) is so perfect. It’s simply oats, chia seeds, almond milk (or regular milk, or water — just some liquid!), and a few optional ingredients like flax seed and brown sugar, all mixed in a mason jar. Seriously. That’s all.
You can throw it together in the morning (just allow 10 minutes of hands-off time for the oats and chia seeds to soak), or you can make overnight oats, allowing everything to soak overnight in the fridge. Either way, all you need to do when you’re ready to chow down is add a little water, throw in any other ingredients you might want (like walnuts and dried cranberries, for example), heat, and eat!
