Have a Snack, Save the World

give-back-3I always say that your eyeballs have power. (So choose what media you watch wisely!) But you know what else has power? Your tastebuds. And I don’t know about you, but with all the craziness going on in the world right now, I could use a little more of putting my power to good use in every way I can.
Like, supporting companies that give back and do good things in the world. And, while they’re at it, create really, really tasty eats, too. This is why I like Play Hard Give Back. (A big thanks to Dana at Goods Giving Back for introducing me to them!)
Not only do they make delicious trail mixes and bars, but they’re doing so much good in the world. (In fact, the founder of Play Hard Give Back was just named as one of the top social entrepreneurs to watch in 2016.)
give-back-4
They basically work with a bunch of amazing athletes and then work with that athlete to support a cause that they believe in and align well with. From cycling teams to pro volleyball players to track and field to skiing, they represent quite the gamut of athletes. Charities range from groups dedicated to getting women into more diverse sports to addressing climate change to animal rights to health and wellness.
To help contribute to their cause, simply go online, pick your athlete and order some trail mix or bars from the individual’s page. It’s kinda fun to pick a person and a cause. (Way more fun than Amazon Prime, and that’s saying something since an Amazon Prime box arrives on my doorstep most days of the week … confession!)

And have I mentioned that the bars and trail mixes are extra delicious, too? My fave stand-outs are Rise and Shine Power Mix (nuts and dried fruits with chocolate-covered espresso beans) and the Health & Healing Espresso Datenut bar (because clearly I have a thing for espresso). All gluten-free, the bars are also non-GMO and made with fair trade chocolate.

These guys are still up and coming so I don’t think they’re in stores yet, but keep your eyes peeled and definitely consider supporting an athlete and his/her cause. Talk about a sweet idea.
Companies who give back regularly are becoming more and more common. What do you think of the trend? I LOVE it. Jenn
