Three Words: Pumpkin. Spice. Cheerios.

I love fall more than a Spice Girl loves zig-a-zig-ahing, and it’s not just because of the cooler temps and the beautiful leaves. It’s the food. Oh, fall food. YOU GET ME.
From stews to chili to apple cobbler, fall is a time when I want to get my ass in the kitchen and do some cooking and baking. And, also, devour pretty much everything pumpkin in sight. Which is exactly why when these Pumpkin Spice Cheerios arrived on my doorstop from General Mills (thanks, guys!) I made so much of a delighted scream that both my dog and daughter thought I had lost my mind.
And, I kind of had. I mean, Cheerios. In the flavors of pumpkin spice. Ahhh!

Glorious, right?

And here’s the thing, I expected these to be more in line with the flavor of a PSL — probably a little too sweet and heavy on the “pumpkin” flavor. (Hence why after my second PSL of the season, I’m back to my plain, black coffee.) But, guys, these Pumpkin Spice Cheerios are far better than a PSL! And I know those are fighting words to some, but it’s true.
First, they do have more sugar than I like to have at breakfast, so I have these as dessert. A delicious, easy dessert.

And you gotta love the whole grains. (We know Kristen does!) Plus, gluten-free for me, so yay!

But my absolute favorite thing about these is that they bring the spice. Like, you can really taste the nutmeg and cloves. They did not go light on them. Each bite is just bursting with those spicy fall flavors with just enough pumpkin and sweetness. It’s a great balance — and fall food perfection, for me.

Now, these Pumpkin Spice Cheerios are a limited edition thing, so if you see a box, snag one (or three!).
And tell us: with your pumpkin-spice-flavored foods, do you prefer them to be heavy on the pumpkin or heavy on the spice? After this review, I think you know my answer … Jenn
