Athleisure That’ll Make a Statement

athleisure-collage-760Is this the greatest time ever for workout attire or what? High-fashion cuts, interesting prints, touchable textures — funky style isn’t just for street clothes anymore. And that makes this atheisure-loving gal happy as can be.

If you’re looking for super shiny capris, pattered pants or trendy tops — well, there are loads of places to find ’em! But if you’re trying to find something that nobody else in your Soul Cycle class will be wearing? Yeah, we’ve got a few ideas for where to begin looking.

SukiShufu

Like to stand out when you hit your group ex class? Then do I ever have the leggings for you. The Suki Leatherback Leggings from SukiShufu are the furthest thing from subtle, which is exactly why I immediately fell in love with the sample they sent me (thanks, SukiShufu!). They come in long and capri-length versions, and in a variety of colors and patterns. When I wore a turquoise pair to my hip hop class last week, I could barely get out the door afterward because I had so many people asking where I got them — they are serious attention grabbers. However, if you’re not quite so ready to be the center of attention, the black gloss color gives you the same liquid shine without being as in your face. The fit is snug, I discovered, so if you’re in doubt, order up (or invest in these).

And it’s not just shiny, shiny pants offered by this company. They’re also venturing into the world of technical velvet for tops (like the loose-fitting Nae Nae tank) and bottoms. Softest option ever? Almost certainly.

Hollie Watman

A native New Yorker, Hollie Watman has always had a serious interest in art — something her degree from the Parsons School of Design reinforces. Her Hollie Watman athleisure collection builds on the success of her jewelry and children’s wear lines, and the colors and patterns are seriously next level. I mean, you guys? There’s an octopus featured in there. From leggings to tanks to shorts and lightweight hoodies, there’s a wide range of designer duds for the fashionable gym goer.

Peony

Another brand on our radar is Peony. I mean, how can we ignore Fish Scale Print Leggings with a matching sports bra? That’s about as close as you’re ever gonna come to being a real mermaid. But many of the other patterns are considerably more subtle while still giving a pop of color or texture — perfect for items you’d like to be able to wear straight from barre to brunch.

Got any lesser known brands that you think are killing it in the athleisure space? Don’t hold out! Share! Kristen
