How to Kick off Your Morning With Pumpkin Spice Errthang
I grew up in Michigan, so fall was always easy to identify. Crisp air, colorful leaves, people wearing coats and scarves … you couldn’t miss it.
But in Florida, it’s different. We just had our first “cold” front come through, meaning evenings and mornings dropped into the 70s instead of the 80s. I mean, I wore a long-sleeved shirt this morning when I did yoga on the beach … or at least I did for the first 10 minutes, and then I got a little too warm. This is not bragging, I promise — while I don’t have any desire to live through an actual winter again, by September or October each year I am sick to death of sweating every time I set foot outside.
However, there’s one clear marker of autumn, regardless of where you reside in the country: pumpkin spice everything. And while I love a good pumpkin spice beer or cookie, I find that my favorite time of day to enjoy some pumpkin spice goodness is in the morning, so I wanted to share a few of my current faves.
How to Start the Day With Pumpkin Spice Everything
Pumpkin Spice Coffee. I’m sure they have this in all varieties, but I am digging the one they have at Trader Joe’s HARD.
Pumpkin Spice Waffles. This is another TJ’s find. I discovered it a few years ago, and ever since, it’s been one of the first things I look for when the shelves start turning orange in the fall. They’re SO GOOD.
Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal. Nature’s Path Organic sent me a Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal with Chia that I’m loving. It’s hearty and full of texture, packs 29g whole grains, 5g protein and 4g fiber. There’s a bit of sugar (6g) but it’s not overly sweet. That said, if you’re looking to sweeten things up a bit (either your oatmeal or your yogurt, or just your life!) there’s also a Pumpkin Flax Granola from the same company that is legit tasty and filling.
Pumpkin Chai Tea. Chai feels all warm and yummy on its own, but when given a pumpkin twist? Oh. My. Fall. And I don’t think anybody does flavored teas any better than DAVIDsTEA, do you?
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. They exist and they are amazing. This is a thing you need to know.
