You Can’t Be Missed in These High-Visibility Brooks Running Options

‘Tis the season for getting your runs on in less-than-bright conditions. With the sun going down earlier (especially when we fall back over the weekend), you’re going to want to show off your lights and brights when you run. Luckily for you, we’re showcasing the latest — and brightest — Brooks Running gear that will keep you safe and fashionable as you hit the streets this fall and winter. (We are Brooks ambassadors, but as always, opinions are ours!)

Brooks Drift 1/2 Zip Running Top

I’ve owned and reviewed a lot of Brooks stuff over the years, but this running top ($95) is by far my favorite. The colors are just so cool.

It’s windproof and water-resistant to keep you dry and comfortable in the gnarliest of cold and windy fall conditions. And it’ll definitely keep you warm as it’s more of a running jacket than a typical running top. In fact, one of the days I wore it, it actually wasn’t cold enough for it — and I’m someone who’s constantly in five layers inside the house. That leads to my only beef with it: I wish it had vents somewhere for when you need a little more airflow because as it’s pretty fitted, it’s not easy to yank off mid-run. A little added breathability would make it perfect.

I do love that it has a pocket that fit my phone and ID; I pretty much believe that there is no item of workout gear that isn’t improved by a large pocket. I did find too that because it’s fitted, the thumbholes were a little more snug than usual; if you’re waffling between sizes, don’t hesitate to size up on this one. It’s also got front and back reflective strips to help you be seen at night, and the bright colors will make you stand out during the day, fo sho.

Brooks Chaser 5″ Running Shorts

These may look like your basic Brooks running short, ($52) but it’s when you get them in the dark that they really shine. They reflect the light with dozens of cool lines so you can be seen in the dark.

They function really well too. Super comfortable, they have not one but two pockets in the waistband to stash a phone and gel or small pet mouse, and the so-called petal hem is cut up up the outside of the legs to allow for full range of motion, making these able to transition from a run to squats to really good post-run stretches. They also have a moisture-wicking mesh brief so you can go without the knickers.

Are you shopping around for any high-visibility stuff for the coming months? You can’t go wrong here. —Erin
