3 Items for Your Foodie (or Not-So-Foodie) Toddler

I use the term “foodie” in the title of this post lightly because, um, we’re talking about toddlers. And one day they might love something and the next they might abhor it. It’s how it goes.

But if your kiddo loves to eat, likes to eat or needs to eat (so, um, that covers all of us, right?), these three items my family and I recently received to test out might just be life-savers. Depending on your situation. And the day.

Kabrita Goat Milk Yogurt & Fruit Pouches

For kids that don’t do well with cow’s milk, goat milk can be an easier-to-digest solution. And these little pouches that pair goat milk yogurt with fruit — there’s Mango Peach, Mixed Berry, and Banana & Vanilla — are pretty delicious. (Of course I tasted them, too.)

They’re not overly sweet, a little tangy (think goat cheese) and have a very clean ingredient list.

My daughter didn’t love them as much as, say, an applesauce pouch or a Chobani tube, but she did like them, especially the Mixed Berry Flavor. And, if you’re looking for formula for a younger kiddo, Kabrita also has one that’s made with — you guessed it — goat’s milk.

Nurture Life

The availability of ready-to-eat meals is one of my favorite food trends of late. There are so many options out there and they are all so darn convenient. But when it comes to serving the entire family, Nurture Life is where it’s at. Because they offer organic ready-to-eat meals delivered weekly straight to your door for anyone from six months to 18 years. So, yes, babies and toddlers, but big kids too.

And the food is delicious. And kinda foodie. I mean, Ratatouille Vegetables, Tomato and Thyme?

Or Salmon and Dill with Potatoes and Spring Peas? (Gwen’s favorite of the toddler options she tried.)

p.s. That hair.

And, honestly, I’d eat the larger meals happily! My husband would need a larger portion, but they were good for me.

Gwen wasn’t into the stew, but I was. A couple minutes in the microwave and mama had a healthy and stress-free dinner on a busy night. All of the food had plenty of robust flavor, without a lot of salt. It’s really the kind of food I’d make if I had more time to cook!

They have tons of plans and options available and all of the babies’ plans are broken down into stages based on their development. It’s pretty genius.

Stasher Bags

Kid only likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Been there. And for that, you can make sandwiches galore and then send them to playdates and school with these bags over and over again.

Self-sealing, airtight, made of silicone (and not plastic), these bags can easily be used and washed more than a thousand times. (You can even write fun notes on the outside of them!) Totally good for the planet and your pocketbook. I’ve been using them nonstop. (They’re also great for markers, toys, toiletries … anything!) A couple should get you through the toddler years …

Do any food companies or products make healthy eating easier for you and your fam? When I get preg with baby no. 2, I’m certainly stocking up on some of those Nurture Life meals! —Jenn
