4 Reasons Boxing Is Awesome After Having a Baby

moms boxing

I was first introduced to boxing in 2010. I was getting tired of going to the gym and having a hard time motivating myself to do something other than an easy cardio treadmill or elliptical workout. I had heard about the Title Boxing craze and knew there was one not too far from my house. I called and they said the first class is free, so I decided to give it a shot.

I went to my first Power Hour and thought I was going to have a heart attack in the middle of class because it was so hard, but at the same time I loved it. The classes were an hour long but I felt amazing after it was over, and I was also seeing remarkable results. My core had never been tighter and all those squats were making my butt look pretty darn good. I was also getting compliments from other people who were noticing the changes in my body, and my clothes were fitting better.

Fast forward to 2016 and two babies later. It’s tough to find time to work out as a working mom, and let’s be real, if I do have time, I would rather take a nap or veg out on the couch watching cheesy reality shows. But at the same time I realize it is important for me to be healthy and to get back in shape so that I can keep up with these two cute little monsters.

Today there are boxing gyms everywhere, and I recently decided to join one that is less than a mile from my house called, 9Round Fitness. 9Round is awesome for busy moms like me because there are no set class times and the workout is only 30 minutes long.

Here are my top four reasons I think moms should start boxing now.

4 Reasons Boxing is Awesome After Having a Baby

1. Beat stress. There is something to be said about putting on those gloves and hitting a bag as hard as you can. It is a great way to get out some of that working mom frustration and relieve stress.

2. Burn calories. Boxing is a high-intensity workout so you are able to burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time. Time is something we don’t have a lot of, so any way we can save it helps.

3. Build muscle. Not only am I losing weight by burning calories, but at the same time my muscle tone is improving and I feel stronger!

4. Boost confidence. Being able to box is very empowering, and I also feel like I have developed some good self-defense skills should I ever need them.

Whether you decide to join a gym or get your own boxing equipment at home I guarantee if you stick with it, you will love the results! —Ashley
